About the Service

Securing and Sustaining Competitive Integrated Employment

At EMESON, we view competitive employment as a fundamental right and a powerful vehicle for social and economic independence. Our Supported Employment service is an intensive, licensed intervention designed for individuals with developmental disabilities who require ongoing support to secure and maintain regular jobs in the competitive labor market.

We completely reject the concept of segregated or sub-minimum wage work. Instead, we assist individuals in obtaining standard, competitive positions within integrated work environments—working alongside colleagues of all abilities for identical wages and benefits. This service bridges the gap between employer expectations and candidate capabilities, creating a mutually beneficial partnership that ensures long-term job retention.

Intensive Job Development and Matching

Finding the right professional fit requires a strategic, data-driven approach. Our employment specialists work closely with both the individual and inclusive local businesses to facilitate successful placements through:

  • Customized Job Development: Analyzing the local labor market to identify inclusive employers, and modifying or negotiating job descriptions to match the specific strengths of our candidates with the business needs of the employer.

  • On-Site Job Coaching and Training: Providing direct, one-on-one instruction at the job site during the initial onboarding phase. Our job coaches assist with learning specific tasks, mastering workplace routines, and understanding company culture.

  • Universal Design and Accommodation Setup: Helping identify and implement reasonable workplace accommodations, assistive technologies, or modified training materials to ensure the individual can perform their duties at a competitive standard.

Long-Term Stabilization and Career Retention

Securing a job is only the first step; our primary metric of success is long-term career stabilization. As an individual becomes proficient in their role, our direct on-site presence gradually fades into long-term, intermittent support, which includes:

  • Ongoing Performance Monitoring: Conducting regular check-ins with both the employee and the supervisor to monitor job satisfaction, address productivity goals, and ensure high standards of performance.

  • Cross-Training and Promotion Support: Assisting the individual in learning new responsibilities as their role evolves, or preparing them to advocate for internal promotions and career advancement.

  • Employer Consultation and Advocacy: Serving as a continuous resource for corporate management, providing education on disability inclusion, workplace diversity, and effective management strategies for teams.
